Welcome to Midview's Music Honor Society
Tri-M is a Music Honor Society dedicated to recognizing the musical accomplishments of students. Along with their musical ability, students must present themselves with good character, a willingness to serve and exemplary academics in order to be inducted into this prestigious organization. Midview's Tri-M is made up of members from the choral and band departments and together they strive to promote music education and the importance of music in everyone's lives. Each member has a strong passion for music and together they hope to impart their love of music to everyone they encounter.
Tri-M encourages younger students to join choir and band with performances at the elementary schools that expose them to the different vocal parts and instruments, while performing to music they can sing along to! This year, Tri-M performed a High School Musical Medley, complete with dance numbers from the movie!
Middie Mania is by far the biggest endeavor Tri-M takes on every year. Throught the talent show, Tri-M enables the young and young at heart to perform and have a chance to win the title of "Middie Maniac!" The community support is overwelming as shown by the number of audience members at each round. It's a fun way to allow the members of Tri-M to support the arts while also getting their feet wet at organizing, promoting and producing an event of such grandure.
Unfortunately, becuase Midview School Disctrict Issue #39 did not pass, Tri-M was not able to have any official "field trips" this year. But, the members of Tri-M didn't let a little finacial discomfort get in their way! Movie days, show outings and pizza parties were sprinkled throughout the year to get the students socially involved while learning something new, seeing a show for the first time, or being exposed to a different genre of music.
The officers developed a reward-point system to keep track of the wonderful things Midview's Tri-M members were doing. Students with a certain number of points will recieve tickets to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Students helped ushering concerts within our district, and went behind the scences to makes sure our younger muscians were heard! Bake sales and petition drives were held to send signatures to Washington D.C. to help the MENC get 1 million signatures regarding music education!
